Beth wins TS 1000 event

Sunday 8 December 2019

Saints player, Beth Laybourne took the TS100o title in Stirling this weekend with 3 solid straight set wins. This is an event run by Tennis Scotland that involves around 50 events leading to the TS1000 final event.

In the quarter final she played Aberdeen Uni’s Lea Tefner and after taking the first set comfortably 6-0, she had to battle through a 2nd set tibreak to make her way to Sunday’s semi final.

In the semis Beth was up against former Stirling student Zoe Moffat and the first set proved to be very tight going to the tie-break. Beth then produced several winning backhand drives and took it 7-0. She took the 2nd set 6-1 to reach the final where would play Stirling player Klara Pribylova. Once again, the 1st set went to a tiebreak which was a very close affair before Beth edged it 9-7 and then won the second set 6-2 to take the title.

This was a great finish to the semester to add to Beth’s performances in the BUCS leagues team.

Congratulations Beth on a great weekend’s tennis.
